Stephen A. Gordon | Frederick G. Tobin | Arthur M. Read, II

Arthur M. Read, II practices in the areas of litigation, estate planning and settlement, matrimonial law, personal injury and negligence, securities arbitration and corporate law.

Mr. Read's practice primarily involves the representation of individuals and families who are involved in small businesses or who find themselves involved in litigation whether that arises out of family discord, personal injury or planning for their estates.

Certified as a Public Member by both New York Stock Exchange Arbitration, Inc and National Association of Securities Dealers, Art is active as a securities arbitrator, frequently serving as the Chairman of arbitration panels.

Elected a Fellow of The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 1988, Art has handled litigation in the Rhode Island Family Court from the simplest to the most complex.

Active in the community, Art served seven terms in the Rhode Island House of Representatives, is active with the Narragansett Council, B.S.A., has served on two church vestries and involved with numerous local groups such as Pop Warner Football, Meals On Wheels and in numerous Masonic organizations.

Art is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Rhode Island, is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Rhode Island Trial Lawyers Association and is a Fellow of the Rhode Island Bar Foundation.

He is admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, the Circuit Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, The United States Tax Court and the Supreme Court of the United States. He received his B.A. from Bethany College (1968), his M.A. from the University of Rhode Island (1971), and his J.D. from Boston University School of Law (1972).

Art and his wife, Billie, are the parents of four sons and reside in Barrington, Rhode Island and Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.
