Stephen A. Gordon | Frederick G. Tobin | Arthur M. Read, II

Stephen A. Gordon practices in the area of complex civil litigation, commercial and business matters, lending documentation, loan work-outs, bankruptcy resolutions and probate matters.

Mr. Gordon's practice actively engages him in trial before all courts of the State of Rhode Island and the Federal District Court for the District of Rhode Island and the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Gordon's experience includes school law, family law, probate law, fire loss litigation, commercial and residential real estate development, zoning, negligence and other personal injury matters, wills and estate planning, business and corporate law.

Previously a sole practitioner doing business as Gordon Law Associates, Mr. Gordon maintained an office in Providence and was trial counsel to the well respected Rhode Island negligence and personal injury law firm, Abrams & Verri.

Prior to that Mr. Gordon was the Senior Partner in a successful seven-attorney   real estate litigation firm with offices in Warwick, Providence and Woonsocket.

Mr. Gordon has been involved in drafting, interpreting and enforcing complicated financial documentation for multi-million dollar loans for several of the major institutions and SBICs in the Providence area and has represented numerous corporations and partnerships.

One of the unique areas of Mr. Gordon's representation has been his representation of various taxi companies before the Public Utilities Commission dealing with the issues of rate increases.

With extensive experience in labor negotiations and in the drafting and implementing of labor contracts with unions, Mr. Gordon has also represented clients in litigation arising out of those contracts.

Mr. Gordon has been the general counsel and a registered lobbyist for the Rhode Island Retail Liquor Stores Association for whom he lobbied before the General Assembly.

Admitted to the Rhode Island Bar in 1967, before the United States District Court in 1968, the United States Tax Court in 1977 and the United States Supreme Court; Mr. Gordon maintain memberships in the Rhode Island Bar Association, Kent County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyer's Association, the Rhode Island Trial Lawyer's Association and the American Arbitration Association.

He is the author of various publications and lectures before the Rhode Island Bar Association Continuing Legal Education, Legal Education Institute, Roger Williams University and the Providence Historic Preservation Commission.

The father of three children, Mr. Gordon graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1964 and the Georgetown University Law Center in 1967 and resides in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

Active in civic organizations, Mr. Gordon has served as a member of the Bench/Bar Committee of the Family Court, a member and Vice Chairman of the Historic District Commission of the City of Providence, a member of the Arts in City Life Commission of the City of Providence, a Member of the Board of Directors of the Urban Educational Center of Rhode Island College, he is the Past Master of Redwood Lodge #35 A.F.&A.M., a member of the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island, the Vice President and Past Member of the Board of Directors of Temple Torat Yisrael, a member of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, the South Providence Hebrew Free Loan Association, the Hebrew Free Loan Association, Temple Emanu-El Touro Fraternal Organization and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
